Dr. Tavarez joined Southern Clinic in January 2012. She was born and raised in the Dominican Republic where she earned her medical doctor’s degree. She married her longtime boyfriend, and they traveled to the United States in May 2005. She completed her internal medicine residency program at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, University of Connecticut (UCONN), Bridgeport, Connecticut. They later moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked in primary care, mainly serving a large population of mostly Spanish-speaking patients.
She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Tavarez and her husband have two daughters, Mahya and Valerie.
They attend Harvest Church and enjoy traveling to visit family, going to the beach, and enjoying the warm southern weather.
