Robert Ortiz is a board-certified nurse practitioner with over 30 years of combined experience in military service and healthcare. From 1990 to 1998, he served proudly in the United States Army as a flight medic, including deployment during Operation Desert Storm. His military background laid the foundation for a career grounded in discipline, critical thinking, and service to others.
Following his military service, Robert earned his Associate Degree in Nursing from Wallace College and went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Auburn University at Montgomery. He furthered his education at the University of South Alabama, where he obtained his Master of Science in Nursing and became a certified nurse practitioner in 2006.
Robert began his nursing career in 2000, working in critical care settings as a CVICU and ICU charge nurse, as well as house supervisor. From 2006 to 2018, he served as a nurse practitioner in a busy cardiology practice, managing complex cardiac patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments. From 2018 through 2025, he transitioned into internal medicine and infectious disease, providing comprehensive care to medically complex adult patients.
He has lived in his community for more than 27 years and is known for his steady leadership, clinical expertise, and dedication to patient care. Outside of medicine, Robert is a devoted husband, father of five, and grandfather of four. He enjoys golfing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
With a unique blend of military experience, critical care background, and advanced practice expertise, Robert brings a well-rounded and compassionate approach to every patient he serves.
